A MAN has been arrested and charged with criminal damage after a fire which ravaged the derelict Haddon Hall Hotel in Buxton – sparking fears for a tramp who had been living in the abandoned building.
The 47-year-old has been charged with two counts of criminal damage and is due to appear before High Peak Magistrates on Monday.
He is currently on bail in relation to arson.

A police spokesperson said officers believe him to be the tramp who was unaccounted for following the fire.

Police were guarding the scene on February 27, when a man, who matched the description of the missing tramp, turned up at the cordon.

Officers spoke to him, before arresting him on suspicion of criminal damage and on suspicion of arson.

The fire started last Wednesday just after 7pm.
