THE FLASH from a camera helped rescuers locate two missing walkers in the Peak District on Easter Monday.
The 27-year-old male and 25-year-old female got lost on Kinder Scout at around 5pm.

Two Buxton Mountain Rescue Team Incident Controllers were able to talk to the couple on their mobile phone, and direct a police helicopter to pick them up.

A team spokesperson said: "The missing people had a camera with a flash facility and we asked them to use it when they could hear the helicopter approaching."

Buxton Team Leader Neil Carruthers added: "We are piloting a new communication system with Derbyshire Police enabling us to speak directly to their Ops Rooms and the police helicopter which worked very well, improving the public service and benefiting all concerned."

• Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams were also kept busy on Easter Monday with calls to rescue two people who had slipped while walking on the Long Cliff footpath at Speedwell Cavern, Castleton.
