Developer must stop

HIGH PEAK Borough Council have authorised enforcement action to stop development work at a prominent Buxton site.
Clearance work on the south side of Dale Road started in March but was stopped on April 2 after the borough council served a temporary stop notice on the developers.
The land has outline planning permission for 14 homes, limited to its western end. The rest of the area is a protected Derbyshire Wildlife Site.
Now the authority have agreed to authorise the issue of an enforcement notice and stop notice, if required.
Cllr Tony Kemp, Executive councillor for Regeneration, said: "The council acted promptly to stop this building work which was taking place without consent.
"Sadly, considerable damage has already been caused to the fragile environment of the dale side.
"Regrettably, it will now take some time to put things right, but the council will work with its nature conservation advisors and is determined to see the area restored."
