Cheese factory deal completed

Farmer co-operative Long Clawson Dairy Limited ('Clawson') has announced that, following detailed employee consultation, it has now completed the acquisition of Dairy Crest's Stilton and speciality cheese business, including its Hartington creamery.
Employee consultation regarding the future of the Hartington site continues and further announcements regarding the outcome of this consultation will be made in due course, said a company spokesman.

The deal sparked fears for the 180 jobs at Hartington after Clawson indicated it might move production to its Leicestershire base.
