A MINI Olympics for youngsters in Buxton is being organised by students from the University of Derby.
Year five and six pupils at Harpur Hill Primary School and Fairfield Junior School will be taking part in a day of events on Thursday May 22, which will be held at Harpur Hill Sports Hall between 10am and 2.30pm.

Running, mini hurdles, long jump, basketball, shot putt and target shooting are among the mixture of indoor and outdoor activities planned.

A spokesperson for the event said: "The aim of this day is to provide a fun activity for the children and to help them improve social skills, personal skills, team building and enjoyment.

"It will also give the two schools a chance to mix and meet new people."

Drinks and hopefully snacks will be provided, and all the children that take part will receive a certificate and goody bag at the end of the day.
