A Buxton supermarket has ensured local martial arts students have a fighting chance at the WTKA world championships in Italy later this month.

Waitrose has donated £203 to Chapel-en-le-Frith-based Modern Martial Arts Academy, where several of its students have qualified to represent England at the world championships.

The money is from the supermarket’s Community Matters scheme, where shoppers vote with tokens to decide which charities receive funding.
