Over £100,000 has been awarded to four High Peak schools to boost their facilities.

Buxton Community School, Buxworth Primary School, Peak School in Chinley and Thornsett Primary School are among 12 schools across the county to be awarded funding by Derbyshire County Council.

The community school receives £25,000 toward classroom refurbishment, while Buxworth Primary has been allocated £12,500 to refurbish a classroom and toilet.

Peak School and Thornsett Primary were awarded £45,000 and £30,000 respectively to improve toilet facilities.

Deputy cabinet member for children’s services, Councillor Caitlin Bisknell, said: “By offering schools this money, children will be able to learn in improved conditions.

“And although our budget is very tight, we are prioritising where we spend taxpayers’ cash so we can make the biggest difference.”
