A SPATE of vandalism which has seen paint daubed on a number of buildings was reported to members of New Mills Town Council.
Cllr Huggy Hawley said he had tried to find out if the offences had been caught on CCTV but had received no response.

"My thought is: what on earth are we paying money for cameras for if they don't work?" he added.

The council is to write a letter to seek clarification about CCTV coverage.

Members heard that seating on the promenade had also been damaged and that damage had also occurred in High Lea Park.
