A VACANCY has arisen at the Ingham's Almshouses in New Mills.
The almshouse were built in 1880 by John and Mary Mackie, in memory of Mrs Mackie's parents James and Martha Ingham, who were well respected by the inhabitants of New Mills.

The listed building at St James' Square, Spring Bank Road, consists of six one-bedroom houses.

A single occupancy vacancy has now arisen for a person aged over-60.

The unfurnished property, which has recently been refurbished with a new bathroom suite, also has a part-fitted kitchen, double-glazing and gas-fired central heating with combi-boiler.

Applications are invited from residents in the High Peak and Disley areas, although priority is given to residents of New Mills.

It is essential that residents are able to look after themselves with the assistance of family and social services as necessary.

All appointed residents must be non-smokers.

For application forms and further information, call Gillian Brown, Almshouse Trustee, on 01663 745149, or contact New Mills Volunteer Centre on 01663 744196 and ask for Cynthia or Karen.

The closing date for applications is November 21.
