THREE awards have been presented to deserving individuals and organisations for their valuable work within the New Mills community
It was the first time that the Town Council has presented Community Awards but it is hoped that is will now be an annual event.

An award was presented to New Mills Volunteer Centre for their services to the community and was accepted on behalf of all those involved by centre manager, Dorothy Scapens.

Leza Richardson, a volunteer at the centre was presented with an individual award for her hard work over many years.

And the contribution made by Graham and Judith Boardman, who for nearly 30 years organised the Community Bonfire, was also recognised.

The winners, nominated by the local community, were presented with their awards at the Parish Meeting in New Mills Town Hall.
