POLICE are appealing for information after a suspicious male approached a young girl in New Mills.
The incident happened at 8.50am on Thursday, near the junction of Yates Road and New Street.

Pc Lisa Salt said: "This male approached a ten-year-old girl who was waiting for her friends. He asked her to 'come here' but she thankfully ran off. He didn't follow her but returned to the park area."

The man is described as being in his 40s or 50s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, of a fat build, with grey short hair and a grey moustache. He had a large nose and a red mark on the right side of his face.

He was wearing a waterproof green coat, which had tatty sleeves, green combat trousers and sunglasses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 2313 Lisa Salt based at Chapel Police Station on 0845 123 33 33 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
