TWO long-serving magistrates, who have notched up 50 years' service between them, have retired from the High Peak Bench.
Derek Winfield, from Whaley Bridge, had served for 28 years while Charlie Winterbottom, from New Mills, had served for 22 years.
They were both well known to High Peak Court users, from their roles as Court Chairmen in Adult Courts both at Glossop and at Buxton, and also for the part they have played in Youth and Family Courts in the High Peak area.
Speaking at ceremonies marking their retirement, High Peak Bench Chairman, Eileen Minchin, thanked them both for their outstanding contribution to local justice in the High Peak area and praised their integrity, and dedication to public service, over so many years.
