AS part of the New Mills Festival, the award winning High Peak Orchestra are pleased to return to the Art Theatre on Sunday, at 7.30pm.
Fresh from their commendation at this year's Buxton Festival Fringe, they have prepared a feast of popular 'Last Night of the Proms' music.
Their classic programme includes: Jerusalem, Sea Songs, Radetzky March, Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony, Blue Danube Waltzes, Pomp & Circumstance, Elgar's Marches No's 2, 1 and No 5 that has not been performed in these parts for quite sometime.
The audience will be encouraged by New Mills Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society members to join in the rousing Pomp and Circumstance and Rule Britannia.
At the helm is the very experienced conductor, Andrew Hodkinson who also teaches music and has guested with other local orchestras and chamber groups.
Also appearing are two fine soloists; Jane McNeill and Suzie Grewcock who will perform Sea Songs and lead the singing in Rule Britannia.
Also, as a special treat Jane and Suzie will perform Rossini's 'Duetto buffo di due gatti'– the famous Cat Duet!
Proceeds go to local charities.
So forget London's Albert Hall – they aim to raise the roof!
Tickets £7, are available from: Theatre Box Office: 01663 742364; The Derbyshire Building Society, Union Road, New Mills; Orchestra members, or on the door on the night.
