SPARROWPIT WI: main officers were elected at the AGM: Sheila Barratt, President; Maggie Bristow, Secretary; Jean Harrison, Treasurer.
The competition winner was Marjorie Heelis. A presentation to retiring President Rosie Harding was made, along with many thanks for four years of really great work.

The report of the autumn council meeting was given by Joan Jackson; a concise and
colourful description, with the main speaker being Gloria Hunniford.

The Kinder Group Meeting held at Town End Methodist Church and hosted by Sparrowpit was a great success, with the entertainment given by the tuneful and attractive Sheffield Barber Shop Quartet. And along with a tasty supper, the evening was much enjoyed by everyone. The guest speaker was Janet Chambers, a WI Executive member.

A theatre trip to Buxton Opera House to see Gym and Tonic is on November 13. Sparrowpit won The Kinder Group quiz.

The Institute enjoyed a trip to Winster to see their wonderful Millennium Tapestry – a beautifully-made picture of wools and natural materials, making a great design of village events. The evening ended with a carol practice led by Alison O'Brien.

Gardens and Gardeners will be the theme of the next meeting on November 18.
