Her wit and straight forward talk was a real eye-opener.

ies.

She was thanked by Joan Jackson.

Mary Williamson, vice president, reviewed various events, including the very successful Manchester Ship Canal trip, organised by Jennifer Mulholland.

To see herons fishing by the canal and various plant life made the cruise really nice. It included lunch on board and a visit to The Lowry and the shopping outlet.

Bakewell Show is an important event, with entries being received.

The Institute’s own Produce Show will be on Saturday August 30, with entries in crafts, bakery, vegetables, flowers and art.

Free schedules are available locally and from members.

The Show is in its 30th year and is a very popular village occasion, with a tombola and refreshments.

The cups will be presented by Sheila Barratt.

The Kinder Group mid-summer walk was organised by Chapel WI and was a nice, friendly evening, including a tasty supper.
