HOPE VALLEY ROTARY CLUB: Traditional jazz enthusiasts from a wide area flocked to Calver Village Hall at the weekend for a varied programme of music by Manchester jazz legend Mart Rodger.
The event was organised by Hope Valley Rotary Club and raised £680 for Edale Mountain Rescue team and other Rotary charities.
It was the fifth time that Manchester Jazz had appeared in Calver and the evening was again voted a big hit.

ugh the band was depleted through illness, Mart and his group were on brilliant form and the absence of their pianist didn't spoil the entertainment one bit," said organiser Rtn Alisma Clark
She was thanked for her hard work by Valley Rotary Club President John Wood.

* HOPE VALLEY COLLEGE: Fifty people attended a singing workshop at the new-state-of-the-art music centre at Hope College.
'A Day with a Difference' was organised by Tideswell Male Voice Choir in response to a commitment made when they received a grant from the Arts Council's Awards for All, to promote music and encourage choral singing in the community.
Participants of all ages were given instruction in harmony singing technique, posture and performance style by experienced coaches Dennis Kay and Emma Shanks.
These were later put to the test when participants performed a piece at the concert alongside Tideswell Male Voice Choir in St Peters Church, Hope, that same evening.
The choir is rehearsing twice a week for their major celebrity concert with The Bachelors Con & Dec at Buxton Opera House on Sunday November 9.
* Students held a Cutest Pet Competition, raising £150 for the RSPCA in conjunction with World Animal Day, held annually on October 4.
Staff and students took in pictures of their pets, paying a 20p entrance fee, with images of a variety of pets ranging from snakes, budgies and iguanas to lambs, rabbits and chinchillas.
First prize was awarded to teacher Sarah Chamberlain for her black Labrador, Milly. The runner-up was Barbra the lamb owned by, Nikki Harrold, 13, while third place was awarded to Amber Davies-Eccles, 12, for her kitten, Toffee.
