AFTER nearly 28 years in the St John's Hall, Harpur Hill WI are moving to the Methodist Chapel on Burlow Road.
The SJAB are selling the hall, and this has meant a change of venue and also a change of meeting night.

In future, the meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of the month, commencing on September 9 at 8pm. The speaker will be Michael Grey.
During the summer, the WI has enjoyed a varied programme.

A very nostalgic evening with Patrick Cooke, the organ grinder, who is often heard in Buxton, had members singing along.

A coffee evening was held to raise money for The Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW), a worldwide organisation which helps women in various ways by setting up workshops and improving water supplies.

One hundred pounds was presented to Sue Watkins, the ACWW representative, when she visited Harpur Hill in June to explain how the projects are selected.

Members joined in the county Litter Pick scheme and collected 30 bags of rubbish from the playing field.

These were promptly collected by the Clean Team, and the WI would like to thank them for their co-operation.

Harpur Hill WI now look forward to the Autumn, and hope to see old and new members when they meet in September.
