Fairfield WI's September meeting was taken by vice-president Kay Clarke, who reported a good afternoon had been held at the 90 years' celebration in Tideswell Church.
There has been an update of the resolutions and a petition signed by everyone for the campaign to stop violence against women.

Members were asked to support the Derbyshire Federation's Roadshow on October 27 when several members will be participating, as well as the Group Social Evening on October 20 - A Night at the Cinema.

There will be a very large audience for the appearance of Leslie Smith as Nell Gwynne on October 13 and volunteers to make refreshments were called for.

Mrs Thompson reported that 22 rain forest trees, courtesy of Yorkshire Tea, had been planted due to support by the Institute.

The speaker for the evening was Mr B Cook, manager of Quarry Bank Mill, who gave a fascinating insight into the history of the mill and the people who worked there.

The October meeting will be the AGM.
