THE President opened Fairfield WI's most recent meeting with good wishes in their absence to members Ann Mellor and Ann Sleigh.
Members enjoyed the bowls/picnic evening at Hartington. Thanks were given to all who helped.

Suggestions for evening events in the autumn were asked for. Names are now being taken for the Nell Gwynne evening with Leslie Smith in the autumn and the group meeting - "A night at the cinema".

In honour of her golden wedding, the president provided the refreshments and thanked Pauline Mycock for her help.

Mrs G Booth entertained the meeting with her talk "Behind the Brown Paper" which related to the Buffer Girls of the Sheffield industry, the subject of a television programme she directed, bringing back memories for some of the members who remembered them.
