Who do you recognise in this photograph of familiar, well-known faces from the business world of Buxton from the late 1950s?

Taken in 1959, and gracing the pages of the Buxton Advertiser, the picture features members of the Buxton Chamber of Trade prior to their annual outing.

Two coach loads set off for a visit to the Vauxhall works at Luton - an outing arranged in conjunction with Lomas Bros’ Garage, which was situated on the Market Place where Sainsbury’s is now.

Pictured at the head of the group was Mayor of Buxton, Cllr Joe Hawley, along with his wife.

Among those gathered were Chamber president Reg Parsons (front, third from the right), his wife Dot and their friends Mr and Mrs J Low; members of the Davey family, May Wood, her husband Len and daughter Brenda; Mr and Mrs Lawrence Price, Mr and Mrs Dennis Adams, Dorothy Middleton, Edna Booler, Mr and Mrs R Challinor, Bob Harper, Mr and Mrs George Morris, former Advertiser photographer Alan Swift, Mr and Mrs Len Eyre, Mr and Mrs George Brunt, Mr Staples and his son, Mr Graham Keetley, Sid Wilson, Jack Emery and his daughter Eveline, Mrs Smith, Mr Clarke, Mrs Mollie Woolford, Frank and Miriam Sturgess, Derek Stuart, and Mrs Naden senior and Mrs Naden junior.
