A LOCAL historian has published a new history booklet on Ollersett Waterworks in New Mills.
The Ollersett Waterworks 1831-1907 is a New Mills Local History Society publication, produced by Derek Brumhead,
With the aid of photographs, maps and sketches, it tells the story of the Works from 1831, when magistrate George William Newton obtained a private act of Parliament to supply water to parts of New Mills.
These works supplied the town with water throughout the nineteenth century, and remained in private hands until it was purchased by the New Mills Urban District Council for £11,000 in 1907.
The Ollersett Waterworks 1831-1907, by Derek Brumhead, is on sale now, priced £3.95, from New Mills Heritage Centre, which is open every day except Mondays.
