AN OUTSTANDING cast of 13 young lovers, warring fairies and mischievous mechanicals will come together to perform Shakespeare’s classic comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Buxton Opera House next week.

Set on the home front during the Second World War, this new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream tells of a very British way of life, and of an old class structure weakened by the destructiveness of war.

Yet despite the conflict there is an underlying feeling of adventure – romance is in the air and people live life for the moment, not knowing what tomorrow may hold.

Vivid dreams escape reality and the desire to love and be loved is great.

In this endlessly inventive production, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is laced with wicked wit, meetings in a moonlit forest, genuine enchantment, and a longing for a better world.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is supported by the Welsh Government and the Arts Council of Wales through the National Performing Arts Touring scheme.

It will be performed at Buxton Opera House on Monday November 26 and Tuesday November 27, at 7.30pm.

Tickets, priced from £12 to £16, are available from the Box Office on 0845 127 2190 or online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
