AN event to help sports clubs that want to become more inclusive and people with disabilities who want to get involved in sport is to take place on Wednesday (May 25) at the University of Derby, Buxton.
Organised by High Peak Disability Sports Group and High Peak Borough Council, the event will also signpost clubs to external funding opportunities for the promotion of sport without barriers.
A council spokesperson explained: “Our celebration of inclusive sport is aimed at schools, clubs, organisations and individuals – in fact at anyone interested in getting involved in disability sport.”
A daytime session from 10am to 3pm will give schoolchildren and their teachers a chance to visit a marketplace of clubs and try their hand at activities including wheelchair basketball, martial arts and football.
From 6pm to 8.30pm, there will be an opportunity for all comers and community organisations to see what is on offer. In addition, there will be workshops for clubs striving to be more inclusive and to secure external funding.
