Top live music club returns to its roots
BUXTON’S top live music club, the long-standing Club Acoustic, is transferring to another venue … and going back to its roots.
Formed more than a decade ago for ‘open mic’ performances, the club has been a performance haven for hundreds of musicians.
Starting off in an upstairs room at The Clubhouse, Club Acoustic has since moved to pubs like The Prince of Wales, The Eagle and its current venue The Sun Inn.
But from Wednesday February 8, Club Acoustic is transferring back to The Clubhouse, on Water Street, Buxton, 8pm to midnight, and hoping to go on to bigger and even better things.
Compere Tony Boden said: “We have enjoyed our time at the Sun Inn, but The Clubhouse now offers a much larger room so that we can hopefully attract more musicians and bigger audiences.”
The club, which boasts all kinds of music, will meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the new venue and feature a showcase event on every fifth Wednesday in a month.
The club is attended by musicians of all musical styles and abilities, and has been the launch pad for local bands like Snakey Terrain, Boy in a Doll’s House and Dig Where You Stand.
Club Acoustic has also launched a new website www.club-acoustic.org.uk and can also be reached by e-mail at clubacoustic1@gmail.com.
