The art of wells dressings

BUDDING artists still have a chance to show off their skills in Buxton Wells Dressing Festival's annual art competition.

Open to all youngsters from pre-school to 18 years, there are over 500 worth of prizes to be won, kindly sponsored by Fred Aldous Ltd, Derby University and the Buxton Advertiser.

The theme is the Wells Dressing Festival and the closing date for entries is July 1 at 4pm and entries must be sent to Chris Simpson, c/o Buxton Advertiser, 10 Scarsdale Place, Buxton, SK17 6EG.

Entries must be no larger than A4 and the age and name of the artist must be clearly printed on the back along with the name, address and contact number for the school or club and the teacher or leaders name.

n If art is not your thing ,there are plenty of competitions running throughout the week including Best Dressed Shop Window, Best Dressed House, Lamp Post, Gate or Front Door with prizes in all competitions.

Why not enter the carnival, on Saturday July 11, as an individual or group as foot characters and just enjoy one of the largest events in the area.

Entry forms are available from the Tourist Information Centre, the Buxton Advertiser, Hargreaves or Goddards Music

Entry forms are also available for the Pet Show in the Pavilion Gardens on Sunday July 12.

The event is taking place again thanks to the sponsorship of Buxton Pets, Natures Own and Trophy Pet Foods.

There are over 400 worth of prizes to be won, entry is only 1 per class.
