A UNIQUE acoustic sculpture that ‘sings’ with the wind is currently being constructed at Lyme Park.

Aeolus – Acoustic Wind Pavilion has been created by artist Luke Jerram, and appears as an imposing shining arch supporting over 300 stainless steel tubes.

Standing below the arch, the mirror-lined tubes will draw in imagery from the landscape, distorting and replicating the surrounding environment.

When the wind blows and the sun moves across the sky, these movements will produce a beautiful and mysterious sound through the sculpture. With its web of nylon strings, Aeolus will function as a giant Aeolian wind harp.

Supported by Outokumpu, which has provided some of the stainless steel, Aeolus will be on show at Lyme Park from tomorrow (Saturday) until August 20, daily between 11am and 5pm.
