Double the fun in classic farce
BUXTON Opera House is delighted that the legendary Shakespeare's Globe are returning to the picturesque outdoor setting of the Pavilion Gardens from Friday July 3 to Sunday July 5, with one of the Bard's most sparkling comedies, The Comedy of Errors.
Take one pair of estranged twins – both called Antipholous! – and one pair of twin servants – both called Dromio! – keep them in ignorance of each other and throw them into a city with a reputation for sorcery and you have the chief ingredients for theatrical chaos.
Fast-paced, hilarious and seemingly irreverent, this engaging comedy explores themes that Shakespeare returned to again and again in his later work; mistaken identity, coincidence and the importance of family.
The outdoor production should prove a big hit with families, and audiences are welcome to come along early and enjoy a pre-show picnic. Don't forget to bring your own (low-backed) seat or blanket and enjoy Shakespeare's tale in a unique and beautiful setting on a summer's evening.
Tickets for A Comedy of Errors will be priced at 15 for adults and 10 for children and discounts are available.
