Chill out at a winter display
Buxton Museum, new exhibition by the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.
A WINTER-THEMED exhibition of work by members of the prestigious Manchester Academy of Fine Arts has gone on show at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery.
The display, featuring up to 90 pieces of contemporary art by sculptors, painters and printmakers, continues until April 15.
Derbyshire County Council Leader Andrew Lewer said: “We are delighted to be hosting this exhibition from the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, which boasts Lowry among its former members.
“It gives local people the chance to see works of art, including depictions of Peak District landscapes, from artists who are carrying on a long tradition of encouraging high quality art in this area.”
Local artists featured in the exhibition include Bill Eley, from Birch Vale, and Michael Goddard.

Founded in 1859, the Academy’s original concepts of promoting fine art through exhibitions and education still apply.
