Re: "Counting cost of care" (14.08.08)
In response to the above letter from Mrs Margaret Weaver, I would like to clarify for your readers the TV Licence concessions available to residents of care homes and those over the age of 75.
In certain types of residential care accommodation, some residents are eligible for the Accommodation for Residential Care (ARC) Concessionary TV Licence.

With this licence, a fee is payable for each eligible person's unit of accommodation or dwelling in which TV receiving equipment is installed and used to watch or record TV programmes. The cost of this type of licence is £7.50 per unit of accommodation.

I would also point out that anyone aged 75 or over is entitled to a free TV Licence for their main address, i.e. the place where they live most of the time. This free licence is not issued automatically and needs to be applied for. You can apply for your concessionary licence in a number of different ways including by post or by telephoning 0844 800 5875.

For further information about concessions, contact us on 0844 800 6732, or visit www.tvlicensing.co.uk/info
