THE WORLD famous Foden's Richardson Band will perform in aid of High Peak Hospice at the Proms in the Park picnic concert at Chapel-en-le-Frith on Sunday afternoon.
The event, which will be held in Chapel-en-le-Frith Memorial Park at 3pm, will raise funds for two charities, the High Peak Hospice at Blythe House, Chapel-en-le-Frith, and also for the Chapel Town Band’s cool2playbrass education project.

Several
hundred people are expected to enjoy the picnic concert, taking along their own chairs, picnic hampers, flags, umbrellas - if necessary - and singing voices.

High Peak Community Arts will be conducting art workshops for young and old during the afternoon, and various community organisations will have stalls, including Chapel and Whaley Bridge First Responders and Friends of Chapel Station.

Foden’s Band have been one of the world’s favourite brass bands for more than 100 years.

They will be conducted by maestro Garry Cutt. Garry was for 12 years musical director of the Grimethorpe Colliery UK Coal Band, the stars of the hit movie Brassed Off. Since 2005 he has led the Foden’s Band to great success in major contests.

In addition to the traditional Last Night of the Proms music of Elgar and Parry, the band will perform many other favourites, including Dave Brubeck’s Blue Rondo a la Turk and music from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom by John Williams, along with a line-up of brilliant soloists.

The park will be open to picnickers from 12.30pm and the two-hour concert begins at 3pm.

Admission prices are £6 (concessions: OAP £5 with children under-14 free).

In Chapel-en-le-Frith, tickets are available at Hall’s Mica Hardware, Stocks Café, Peak Press and on the gate on the day.
