STAGING an epic tale of bloody English Civil War The Tragedy of Richard III in one Buxton Fringe's smallest venues is the challenge being met by Liverpool's Award-Winning Black Box Theatre Company.
The tale of the charismatic and power-hungry Richard of Gloucester, is brought to life at the Fringe's Pauper's Pit from Wednesday July 16-19 by an eight-strong cast.

'The venue, one of the smallest the Company have ever played, lends itself perfectly to our 80 minute adaptation,' admits Ian Karl Moore, Black Box Artistic Director.

'Like the play, and particularly it's central character, the venue has masses of charm but a very claustrophobic quality which lends itself well to what was the Bard's second longest play'.

'Richard the Third is a powerful piece, and the man himself, whilst cutting a dashing figure, is far from blessed with classic good looks. The venue mirrors that, hidden in the bowels of one of Buxton's finest buildings, The Old Hall Hotel.

The play tells of the man who would never be King, being sixth in line. Deformed from birth he nonetheless overcomes his physical difficulties by compensating with devastating charm, wit, courage and guile.
