THE Buxton Advertiser helped fix it for pop star Lloyd Cole to meet the brother he hadn't seen for years.
And our own photographer Paul Robinson was on hand to take the snaps as shocked Lloyd – a world-renowned singer and songwriter – embraced his brother who has been living and working in Bulgaria.

On the spur of the moment, Adam Cole travelled to Buxton from Surrey on Monday with Lloyd's dad, Brian.

All the Cole family used to live in Buxton. With the permission of the concert promoter, Adam walked on stage during Lloyd's pre-concert soundcheck on Monday, held before the evening concert at Buxton Opera House.

He approached Lloyd from behind, tapped him on the shoulder and requested a song.Lloyd, who now lives in the USA but was born at Corbar Hall, Buxton, was flabbergasted to see his brother Adam,43, on stage.

Once Lloyd got over the shock the pair laughed and embraced.

Dad Brian said: "Our little ruse worked very well indeed. It completely took Lloyd by surprise – although he should know better by now because I did a similar thing to him myself when he was playing a concert in Central Park in the US."

Adam said: "It was a great moment and later we watched the show and I met up with old school friends I hadn't seen for years."

Lloyd said: "It was great to be back in Buxton and to say being reunited with Adam on stage in the town was a surprise is an understatement.

"Lloyd, who had a string of hits in the 80's and retains a massive following, grew up in Chapel-en-le-Frith and attended New Mills Grammar School.
