BUXTON Opera House is to stage its exclusive production of Willy Russell's classic comedy drama, Educating Rita, from September 4 to September 6.
Produced by Opera House Chief Executive Andrew Aughton, the piece tells the story of Susan White, a frustrated hairdresser who, against the wishes of her husband, signs up to an Open University course (under the pseudonym of Rita).
She is tutored by Dr Frank Bryant, an unsuccessful, alcoholic, middle-aged academic with no experience of teaching working-class students.
The production stars award-winning Buxton Fringe actor George Telfer as Frank and Cara Nolan, last seen by Buxton audiences as Maria in Twelfth Night in the Dome, as Rita.
The show begins at 7.30pm and the Saturday matinee starts at 2.30pm.
Tickets for Educating Rita are priced at £11, £13 and £15 and discounts are available.
