PLANS are well underway for this year's Hartington Wakes Sports and Show which is held on the Pikehall Racetrack off the A5012, three miles from Newhaven.
The president for this year's show, on Sunday, September 21, will be Peter Stubbington a Partner in Overdale Veterinary Practice in Buxton. The Vice President for this year will be local solicitor Nigel Davis, a supporter of Hartington Sports for a n
umber of years.

The show will include the Harness Horse Racing that always proves to be a spectacular and entertaining event, with competitors travelling from all over the country to take part.

There will be a wider variety of classes available to competitors in the show jumping and gymkhana section. These will include a 'puissance' event, Open fancy dress, various in hand and lead rein classes, and pony gallops. Anyone interested in entering this section should contact Heather Llanwarne on 01629 636835.

The Cattle section will once again be organised by former President of Hartington Sports and Committee Member, Alan Dickinson. Anyone interested in entering cattle in this section should contact Mr Dickinson on 01335 390210.

Other attractions will include the ferret, terrier, lurcher racing and showing. Anyone interested in entering this section should contact Stephen Hawkins on 01629 636236.

There will be a variety of stalls in the craft tent. Refreshments and licensed bar will be available on the field.
