BUXTON Opera House is offering a must-see show for all jazz and Blues fans – Rockin' in Rhythm on Sunday August 30, starring Paul Jones and Digby Fairweather's Half Dozen.
Digby Fairweather, with over 30 years in the business, has played with the likes of George Melly, Van Morrison, Jacqui Dankworth and The Swingle Singers and along with his Half-Dozen (Craig Milverton, Julian Marc Stringle, Len Skeat, Nick Millward, Chris Gower and Dominic Ashworth) recently won a British Jazz Award for 2008/09.

The band is fronted by its star guest – blues/pop legend Paul Jones.
Jones started his career as resident singer in Alexis Korner's blues band - Blues Incorporated.

After 'cutting his teeth' in Blues Incorporated, Paul Jones formed a new band Manfred Mann (later the Manfreds), a hit British beat, rhythm and blues band; Paul providing lead vocals and harmonica.

In 1967 Jones branched into acting, appearing as a pop star in the cult film Privilege alongside Jean Shrimpton.

And in 1972 he performed the role of Peron on the original concept album of Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

Paul never abandoned his love of rhythm and blues, hosting numerous blues programmes on BBC Radio 2 and continuing to work as a session musician as well as tour with his own band, The Blues Band.

Don't miss the powerful voice that made hits out of Bad Boy and Pretty Flamingo along with his virtuoso blues harmonica.

A top bluesman and rock icon, a poll-winning band, and an attractive mix of blues standards and hits makes for an unmissable evening.
Tickets for Rockin' in Rhythm will be priced at £15.50 and £17.50 and discounts are available.
