VILLAGERS in Hayfield have a tough choice when they go to the polls this weekend with four girls nominated to become the 2009 May Queen
Organisers had faced a race against time after the only candidate who originally came forward withdrew her application.

But an urgent appeal saw Robyn Taylor, Annie Hallam, Ashleigh Askham and Amy Edwards put themselves forward.

The vote will take place on Saturday at St Matthew's Church Hall from 10am to 4pm where there will also be an exhibition of May Queen photographs. Refreshments will be available.

Voters will also be able to choose between Josie Mann and Anouska Manion, both aged 10, to take on the role of Princess.

Five-year-old Holly Howard is the 2009 Rosebud.

The results will be announced at a Children's Disco to be held from 7pm to 9pm later the same day at The Royal Hotel.
