INTREPID golfers contested the inaugural Buxton Community School Golf Open competition which High Peak Golf Club kindly hosted.
Conditions were tough in the wind and rain early on and several competitors left shots on the course over the front nine.

However, once conditions improved, so did the golf with the majority of competitors picking up valuable points on the back nine.

The eventual winner was Ben Wood in Year 11 who scored 37 points in the Stableford competition played off a ¾ handicap allowance.

Other winners included Buxton star golfer Kim Bradbury (handicap of 3) in the longest drive competition and Charlie Johnson who was nearest the pin on the par 3 8th hole.

Chris O'Brien, Head of Physical Education at the Community School, said, "Last week's event was a real chance to celebrate the talent of the golfers at Buxton Community School.

"Real thanks go to High Peak Golf Club and the Schools Sports Partnership for sponsoring the event and providing a platform from which the future of High Peak golf can develop".
