A DATE has been set for a parish poll in Disley and Newtown.
The poll seeks to gauge residents views on whether they think Disley & Newtown should remain within the new Cheshire East unitary authority or become part of Stockport Metropolitan or High Peak Borough Council.

It was called for by ten residents under the Local Government Act 1972, and will be held on Thursday May 8, Disley Parish Council confirmed this week.

Voting will take place at Disley Community Centre and The Swan, Newtown, between the hours of 4pm and 9pm.

Postal and proxy voting will not be available and polling cards will not be issued.

Irrespective of the outcome of the poll residents should note that the Boundary Commission has no plans to conduct reviews of local authority external boundaries for the foreseeable future.
