The Macular Disease group meeting at Buxton's Methodist Church is seeking new members

A GROUP for people in the High Peak who suffer from the eye condition macular disease is seeking new members.

The Buxton and Beyond macular support group started up over a year ago, with help from the Rotary Club, High Peak Community and Voluntary Support (CVS) and the Macular Disease Society.

The group has been meeting on the second Friday of most months at Buxton Methodist Church with members hearing talks on various aspects of living with macular disease, which leads to the loss of central vision.

A formal launch event was held earlier this month, when Carla Nitti spoke on the Derbyshire library service.

Buxton’s Bill Weston MBE will be the guest at the next meeting on Friday, December 14.

Anyone suffering from macular disease, or with an interest in it, is welcome to join the group.

More information is available from Marge Rose on 01298 22136, and transport may be arranged for anyone who needs it.
