SKY-DIVER Chris Clayton took the plunge not once - but TWICE - on his way to raising £1,200 for two cancer charities.

The Buxton daredevil faced his fear of heights when he took to the skies with the British Army’s parachute regiment display team The Red Devils in June, free-falling from 13,500 feet.

But when problems with a video camera scuppered his hopes of a souvenir DVD, Chris was invited back to attempt a second jump.

Chris, who was following in the footsteps of his late father, paratrooper and D-Day veteran Dennis Clayton, said afterwards: “It was an amazing experience, and a great feeling to be jumping with the guys from the same regiment my dad served with.”

Chris has raised £1,200 for MacMillan Cancer Support and Blythe House Hospice in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

He added: “I would particularly like to thank my mum and her friends who collected over a quarter of the total, and the customers of Yannies and Steve’s Tyres.”
