VISITORS to Blythe House Hospice saw the new extension, landscaped garden and internal refurbishments as well as meeting all those involved in the running of the hospice at an Open Day.
Among those who attended were High Peak Mayor Robin Baldry and MP Tom Levitt who were able to find out about the new developments.

Hospice Director Sheila Tyler said: "In 2007 we were delighted to hear that we had been awarded a grant from the Department of Health to help with the development and refurbishment of our building in line with their 'Improved Access for the Elderly Project'."

"Now that the final touches have been completed we are very proud of our new look and want to give people the opportunity to see what we have done."

A further Open Day will be held on Friday July 18 from 4pm – 6.30pm should anyone wish to call and book a place.

Another welcome visitor to the open day was John James who arrived to present a gift of a bird table for the garden at the Hospice. The bird table was donated from the management, staff and customers at the Pride of the Peaks, New Mills and was the result of fundraising from a charity afternoon.

Lucy Marsden, Fundraiser at Blythe House said: "We are very grateful to the Pride of the Peaks for this gift.

"It is very thoughtful and will look wonderful in our new garden."

Blythe House would like to thank all their friends, supporters and local businesses who have contributed their time, products and expertise to enable them to achieve such a wonderful environment on a very limited budget. In particular they would like to thank the Department of Health, Dave Trotter, Louise Janetta, Alan Aspinall and Alan Joss.
