Sparrowpit WI carries on with old tradition

ONE of the few remaining WI Produce Shows was held in Sparrowpit on Saturday giving locals the chance to showcase their talents.
With a high standard of entries across the classes which included vegetables, flowers, flower arranging, arts and crafts, photography, cakes, jam and pickles, judges had a difficult job.

There were impressive entries in the vegetables and flower classes despite the weather this year not being kind to gardeners.

During the afternoon Sheila Barratt, the convener of the Kinder Group, presented the cups with Rosie Harding receiving the show shield for the most points in the show.

The traditional WI Show finished with an auction in the capable hands of Fred Williamson and Bill Barratt.
