A CHAPEL-en-le-Frith couple are hoping to raise cash for two worthy causes by taking part in the Great North Run on October 5.
Helena Jodrell, nee Ashbury, and husband Paul are backing theChristie Hospital in Manchester and the Make-a-Wish charity which helps terminally-ill children.
Helena said: "Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer and knows what devastation it can bring to all family and friends. I myself lost a relative earlier this year to cancer, Maureen Rowland.
"Christie Hospital in Manchester gave her such good care and it is the only way I can say thank you to them for all the good work they do.
"In order to raise significant amounts of money we need your help and support please," said Helena who will be taking part in her third and final Great North Run.
To sponsor Helena or Paul contact Helena at the Stewart Medical Centre, Buxton where she is part of the district nursing team or donate at www.justgiving.com/helenajodrell.
* Angela Garton is hoping to raise funds for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team by taking part in the event.
"So far so good – I haven't been one of the 60+ callouts they get every year," she said. "None of us want to ever be in that situation but it could happen!" explained the outdoor enthusiast.
She hopes the funds she raises will help the team of 50 volunteers (not forgetting four search dogs) who are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
