THE INDOMITABLE spirit of band lovers overcame the steady rainfall at Chapel-en-le-Frith Memorial Park on Sunday afternoon to help raise funds for charity and have fun doing it at the Proms in the Park picnic concert given by the world famous Foden's Richardson Band.
More than 240 hardy souls braved the weather and set up gazebos and umbrellas, with a liberal sprinkling of flags waved enthusiastically while they sang the famous British national songs.

The event was organised by Chapel-en-le-frith Town Band in aid of the High Peak Hospice Blythe House and the band's education initiative Cool2playbrass.

With the aid of supporting organisations and sponsors, including Derby University Buxton Campus, HD Sharman Ltd, Peak Press, First Choice Musical Solutions, Buxton, Speedyhire Rental New Mills, High Peak Marquees, the Children's Society and Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council and Derbyshire County Council more than £2,000 was raised for the charities despite the awful conditions which kept away many less stout-hearted souls.

Various community organisations held stalls, including Chapel and Whaley Bridge First responders, Friends of Chapel Station, High Peak Community Arts and St John Ambulance.
