A CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH Police Community Support Officer put pedal to the metal to complete a coast-to-coast bike ride.
Julie Shaw, a member of the Chapel-en-le-Frith and Chinley Safer Neighbourhood, finished the gruelling 145-mile challenge from Workington to Sunderland ahead of schedule.

She is aiming to raise £3,000 in sponsorship to enable Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council to purchase a solar powered light for the town's Memorial Park.

"We completed the ride in two-and-a-half days, instead of the expected three days, riding 71 miles on the last stage," said Julie, who was accompanied by three friends.

"It was hard work and very challenging, but at the same time very rewarding."

Julie has now started the process of collecting her pledges, but people can still sponsor her by visiting Chapel Police Station.

Sponsorship forms are also available at locations around the town, including the Royal Oak, The Kings, Chapel Town Hall and Fletchers butchers.
