PARISH councillors are to meet with residents over the controversial plans for a new traffic lights system in Dove Holes.
The Advertiser revealed how Derbyshire County Council had unveiled a £130,000 scheme to construct the lights and pedestrian facilities at the junction of Station Road and Dale Road.

Members of Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council expressed their concerns about the plans, fearing an increase in traffic along Station Road.

They also called for a one-way system to be included in the proposal.

Speaking at the council's meeting on Tuesday night, Cllr Michael Harrison said: "We have now had emails from residents expressing their concerns and asking what we, as a parish council, are going to do to make representations about trying to get modifications to these plans, or have them thrown out altogether.

"I think we need to arrange a meeting."

Cllr Ann Young said she believed residents in Dove Holes had previously requested another crossing point in the village.

The proposed traffic lights system is part of a £433,000 borough-wide roadworks scheme which also includes road surface improvements along the A6015 Hayfield Road and the A5004 Buxton Road.
