COFFEE AND cakes helped raise over £280 for charity last week.
A coffee morning held at Blythe House Hospice in Chapel-en-le-Frith on Friday raised £286.20 for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Among the attendees at the event, which is part of the cancer charity's annual World's Biggest Coffee morning, were High Peak Mayor and Mayoress Cllrs Robin and Linda Baldry, High Peak MP Tom Levitt and High Peak Prospective Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Andrew Bingham.
Cllr Robin Baldry said: "In these hard financial times it is great to see people will still turn up and support events such as this.
"Every time I visit Blythe House, I am amazed by the work that is going on there.
"It is a fantastic High Peak facility."
High Peak MP Tom Levitt added: "I am pleased to see so many people have come and supported the event and also with the news that the Government is to provide free prescriptions for cancer patients as Gordon Brown announced last week. This is obviously a big issue for some of the people associated with Blythe House."
Since June, Macmillan Living Well Specialist Practitioner Anne Cawthorn has been based at Blythe House where she runs a Living with Cancer service for anyone affected by the disease and their families.
