COUNCILLORS have approved plans for two new industrial units in Chapel-en-le-Frith.
The proposals, which had been turned down in December over fears of a detrimental effect on nearby trees, were given the go-ahead at meeting of High Peak Borough Council's Development Control Committee on Monday.
The revised application, for land
adjacent to Bowden Hey Road, was the same in terms of the size and location of the units but changes had been made to the original plans which included an eight metre buffer strip alongside the trees being fenced off to prevent damage to tree roots and the parking area for one of the units being moved away from the trees.
Cllr Emily Thrane, moving approval, said: "I understand we are being asked for outline approval.
"The land is designated in the local plan for industrial use. There are a number of issues that have been raised which will be addressed when the application is finalised. Although I have sympathy for those living nearby, I really can't see anything in the report which would give us any reason at all to override the designation in the local plan."
A local resident had earlier expressed his objection to the plans, raising concerns over the lack of landscaping around the site.
The proposals also include the creation of 76 car parking spaces.
