Double standard over kids' safety?

THE FAMILIAR sight of the fluorescent yellow cap outside Dove Holes Primary School could soon be no more.
Derbyshire County Council (DCC) wants to relocate the village's existing school crossing patrol to Chapel-en-le-Frith, a meeting of Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council heard last week.
PCSO Julie Shaw said: "They believe it is safe to cross at a puffin crossing, but in Whaley Bridge there is a crossing patrol person located on a puffin crossing.
"So if it is safe in Dove Holes, why is it not safe in Whaley Bridge?"
Cllr Mike Smith said he believed the busy road warranted a school crossing patrol.
"I suggest we support keeping the patrol at Dove Holes," added Cllr Ann Young.
