YOUNGSTERS are being given the opportunity to try out a variety of sports at Chapel-en-le-Frith Leisure Centre.
Chapel and Chinley Safer Neighbourhood Team has worked with staff at the centre to organise a multi-sports event on Friday, May 16.

Between 7pm and 8.30pm, youngsters aged 11 to 14 will be invited to take part and from 8.30pm until 10pm, youngsters aged 15 and 16 can participate.

There will the chance to play a variety of games, including football, volleyball and basketball.

PC Ian de Pee, of Chapel and Chinley Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "We hope this event will attract young people to sport and steer them away from the possibility of being involved in anti-social behaviour.

"If the evening is successful, we hope it can be run on a regular basis. It's important to provide youngsters with something to do and the sports evening follows on from two very successful youth discos held in Chapel."

The cost of the event is £1.50.
